Return Checklist
Please review the following questions before returning your Ceres tester for repair. If your answer to any of these questions is NO, please perform the recommended troubleshooting exercises. This may resolve your problem without the need to return the unit for service.
- Have you thoroughly cleaned the unit’s probe tip? It is recommended that the tip be cleaned during warm-up each time the unit is turned on, and after a few minutes of continual operation. The probe may be cleaned by scratching it vigorously against a piece of paper. Do not use coated or waxed paper and be careful to point the probe tip straight down at the paper.
- Have you thoroughly cleaned the gemstones you are testing? Test only clean gemstones, since body oil, dirt, and dust can produce incorrect readings. Make sure that the stone is completely dry after cleaning, as water and other liquids could causing improper readings.
- Are the ni-cad batteries in your unit fully charged? If your unit uses alkaline batteries, have you replaced them with fresh ones? For the purpose of diagnosing problems with your unit, it is highly recommended that you plug it into a wall outlet. If this is not possible, however, please be sure that your ni-cad batteries are fully charged and your alkaline batteries still operational.
- Have you read the unit’s operators manual thoroughly? Many common‘ problems’ with diamond testers are due to improper testing technique. Please read the manual carefully click HERE to read the manual for your product to make sure that you are using the product according to its instructions.
Have you answered 'NO' to any of the above questions? If so, please take the corrective steps set forth above, which may solve your problem.
